Mitch Hughey is a life-long percussionist who has been performing and recording music for over 25 years.
As a recording and performing artist, Mitch has collaborated on eight original studio albums spanning the genres of punk, folk, R&B, and Americana. Most recently, he has recorded and produced a series of videos alongside his band, The Boot Heel Dance Band, which features musicians from around the area performing 60's R&B and Soul.
For over a decade, Mitch worked as an instrument instructor and clinician, assisting local middle school and high school concert bands while also teaching his own private students.
Currently, Mitch works for the Knight Library at the University of Oregon as a music cataloger and preservationist. There, he implemented a musical instrument lending library, which loans instruments to university students at no cost.
Mitch's life has been profoundly shaped and enriched by his love of music. It has developed into both a passion and a career.
